CTratio Series

Fiber Optic (Ratio) Pyrometers

Due to its short measuring wavelength the ratio pyrometer series optris CTratio is especially suited for measurement of high metal temperatures and the very short response time allows for surveillance of very fast processes. The ratio pyrometer is largely resistant against dust, steam and dirty observation windows. This allows for an accurate measurement in cases of window soiling of up to 90 percent. The pyrometer additionally measures reliably in cases where the measuring object only covers 5 percent of the measuring spot or moves very fast.

The rugged, electrically isolated sensing head and fiber optic cable makes the CTratio insensitive to electromagnetic fields and usable in ambient temperatures up to 315 °C without cooling.

Why IR Thermometers of CTratio Series?

The robust fiber-optic ratio Optris CT Ratio pyrometer redefines non-contact thermometry and delivers the most consistent and repeatable non-contact temperature measurement results. With rising temperatures of an object, its emitted radiation increases within the overall wavelength range, and additionally, the maximum of the spectral-specific radiation shifts to shorter wavelengths.

Unlike intensity-based single-color pyrometers, which measure the power of the emitted infrared radiation that correlates to the object's temperature and emissivity, ratio-based pyrometers measure the infrared radiation at two closely spaced wavelengths and evaluate the relationship between the two intensities. Therefore, one of the standout features of the Optris CT Ratio is its ability to provide repeatable and accurate measurements even in adverse conditions. Unlike single-color devices, a ratio pyrometer can even measure reliably when the emissivity is unknown or changing with the temperature, as long as both wavelength signals are affected proportionally by emissivity or process changes.

Ratio pyrometers are often used if the measuring spot is not fully placed on the object or the object is smaller than the pyrometer spot size if changing transmissions are present in the optical path of the pyrometer – like dust, steam, obstacles – or if the object surface emissivity is changing within a certain amount. The two-color pyrometer is largely resistant to dust, smoke, steam, and dirty observation windows. If changing transmissions within the optical path are present, the pyrometer allows for a reliable measurement even with up to 90 percent attenuation.

Moreover, the two-color measurement principle allows reliable measuring temperatures even when the object is not fully placed within the field of view of the pyrometer, is smaller than the pyrometer spot size, or is in rapid motion. With a green laser for real spot size indication at any distance, aligning the sensor becomes effortless, even on red glowing surfaces. The electrically isolated sensing head enhances safety and reliability. It is completely passive and connected with fiber optics to the electronics box. With an ambient temperature limit of up to 315 °C without cooling, this pyrometer is well-suited for the most challenging applications.

Another attribute of such an infrared ratio thermometer is its precise non-contact temperature measurement facilitated by separate electronics. The interface includes easily accessible programming keys and an LCD. The stainless steel housing of the pyrometer enhances durability and is suitable for varied industrial settings. A ratio infrared sensor of the Optris CT Ratio emphasizes flexibility, with the electronics box providing a range of analog and digital outputs, including 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, USB, RS485, RS232 interfaces, relay outputs (2 x optically isolated), Profibus DP, ProfiNet and Ethernet, Ethernet IP.

The Optris CT Ratio also offers isolated analog outputs. The interface includes easily accessible programming keys and an LCD, simplifying the configuration process. Its adaptability, durability, and accuracy make it a standout choice for industries where temperature control is critical. Designed and manufactured in Germany, the rugged design of the Optris CT Ratio makes it the perfect tool for industrial manufacturing applications within the metal and semiconductor industry.

The novel ratio Optris CSVision pyrometer redefines non-contact temperature measurement, delivering consistent and repeatable results. As temperatures rise, an object's emitted radiation increases across the wavelength range, and the CSVision's ratio-based approach excels in capturing these changes. Unlike single-color pyrometers, which rely on intensity measurements, the CSVision measures infrared radiation at two closely spaced wavelengths, providing unparalleled accuracy.

One standout feature of the Optris CSVision is its ability to provide reliable measurements even in adverse conditions. Unlike single-color devices, a ratio pyrometer can deliver accurate results when the emissivity is unknown or changes with temperature. This flexibility is crucial in various scenarios, such as when the measuring spot is not fully on the object, or the object is smaller than the pyrometer spot size. The CSVision's two-color measurement principle offers resistance to dust, smoke, steam, and dirty observation windows. It remains reliable even with up to 90 percent attenuation caused by changing transmissions in the optical path. Additionally, the two-color approach allows precise temperature measurements when the object is not fully placed on the pyrometer spot or is in rapid motion.

Aligning the sensor is effortless with the innovative video sighting and crosshair laser of the CS Vision series. The switchable two-step brightness reduction filter further enhances visibility, making it easy to focus on very bright objects. The CS Vision series offers a wide temperature measurement range from 550 °C to 3000 °C, with a superior optical resolution of up to 150:1. The internal motorized focus enables contactless measurements from variable distances. Setting up and monitoring processes are streamlined with the IRmobile Android app or CompactPlus Connect software. Flexibility is a key highlight of the Optris CSVision, supporting various analog and digital outputs, including 2x 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, USB, RS485, ModbusTCP, ProfiNet, and Ethernet IP. The ratio pyrometer's adaptability extends to adverse environments, operating from 0 °C up to 65 °C without additional cooling. Manufactured in Germany, the CSVision's rugged design makes it an ideal tool for critical temperature control in industrial manufacturing applications.

Industries such as metal and semiconductor manufacturing benefit from its adaptability, durability, and accuracy, ensuring precise temperature measurements in challenging environments. The Optris CSVision stands as a reliable choice for those seeking excellence in non-contact temperature sensing technology.
